Shudokan Family Karate Centre supports Halton Food for Thought Student Nutrition Programs

Each year the students of Shudokan Family Karate Centre, 5125 Harvester Road in Burlington, host a charity board breaking event. This year’s fundraising initiative supports healthy eating at school!

Students as young as 4 years old are given a board for 2 weeks to take with them when they visit friends, neighbours and school and ask for a Toonie as a donation. They also ask that the donor sign the board.

During those 2 weeks, students practice breaking re-useable boards in class.

The signed / donation boards are then brought to class and broken in front of family and other students. The boy and girl who brings in the most donations receive a dojo t-shirt.

The Shudokan Team believes this annual initiative inspires children to assert themselves on a project that they are interested in doing, which assists in their personal growth.

“This is a win win project that builds personal confidence in the students and teaches them to share.

We believe this will help create future citizens of good character.”

Victor Mangialardo, Shudokan Family Karate Centre

This year Shudokan Family Karate Centre raised $3038.65 via their annual board breaking initiative in support of Halton Food for Thought Student Nutrition Programs. WOW!!!
