In partnership with school boards and in accordance with public health, Halton Food for Thought is excited to offer the Healthy Food Bin (HFB) program to provide healthy snacks to students at school.
The Healthy Food Bin consists of a minimum of two food groups, non-perishable, individually wrapped, nutritious food items with one always being a hard fruit (e.g. apple) or fruit cup. Food is placed in plastic storage bins with a closable lid.
Healthy Food Bins can be placed in classrooms or key areas around the school. The chosen location must promote physical distancing, minimize congregation to ensure a controlled distribution model, and adhere to school specific guidelines. Buffet style is not permitted.
This is a universal program that provides all students in school with the nutrition they need to sustain them through a busy school day!
HFFT is here to continue to ensure that no student goes hungry at school and that every student has their best chance at success.
All guidelines / resources and protocols are subject to change as we navigate COVID regulations throughout the school year.
