On May 12, Halton Food for Thought (HFFT) hosted our annual Breakfast Bash fundraiser with an aim to raise funds to support the strength and stability of our 163 programs across Halton. This year the event was more important than ever with six new programs and food costs across the country continuing to rise these funds help HFFT and our school partners ensure students have access to the nutritious food their bodies need to fuel their school days.

With thanks to our generous sponsors, donors and those who donated towards the event’s silent auction, we were able to reach our goal of $100,000 – the largest amount raised by this event in its 15-year history!

“This year we knew we set ourselves an ambitious goal of $100,000 to raise in support of our programs, however we needed to in order to raise these important funds for our programs,” said HFFT Executive Director Aliya Khawari when reflecting on the Breakfast Bash. “The Halton community really came together to help us get there, with 450 guests attending in-person and those who donated and bid from home, we could not have done it without them and are not just overwhelmed but also very grateful for  the support we received.”

The event goal was reached in part thanks to our generous sponsors who all helped us reach this goal including CIBC Wood Gundy, Global Citrus Group Inc., miniGiants, Snax4Schools Inc., UCC Group, EarthFresh Foods, Cogeco, IG Wealth Management Oakville/Burlington, Produce Express, Whole-Grains.ca, Smith’s Funeral Homes, IKEA Burlington, Cooper Equipment Rentals, FreshCo Upper Middle/Walker’s Line and Multi-Language Corporation.

Hosted by Julie Cole, the event was lively and filled with heartwarming stories about the impact of programs, celebrated those who champion our work throughout the year and included a fun quiz to test the 450 guests’ knowledge about HFFT’s programs. During the morning guests enjoy a delicious breakfast marketplace featuring local Halton restaurants, including Joe Dog’s Gasbar Grill, Oakville Conference Centre, Martini House, Appleby College, Rust BistroBar, Pur & Simple Burlington North, Mary's Muffins, Milestones Burloak and St. Ignatius of Loyola CSS who had students on the blender bikes making delicious smoothies!

We want to thank everyone for their support of the fundraiser and helping us achieve this milestone in support of Student Nutrition Programs across Halton. For more on the event you can view highlights from Cogeco.
