Welcome to National Volunteer Week 2025!

Join us and other community organizations celebrating Volunteer Canada’s National Volunteer week from April 27 – May 3! During this time, we will have the pleasure of spotlighting some of the volunteers and programs that are Making Waves this year to support Halton students in accessing nutritious food at school.

Our volunteers support us as members of the local school community, school staff and students; together they take on different roles to work together and deliver the best programs possible at our 152 partner schools to support a healthy and nutritious start to a student’s day. Through their work, they are helping Halton Food for Thought reach our vision of no student going hungry at school.

During the next seven days we will get to share some stories from our volunteers - celebrating the impact that they make on the lives of Halton students.

The commitment of our volunteers is incredible, with over 1,000 active volunteers in schools during the school year. Our volunteers are amazing individuals who all support for different reasons, however we all come together so students have access to healthy food to be able to concentrate on their school day and not their hunger.

Thank you to everyone who helps support our programs, no matter the size of the contribution, it all adds up to our volunteers Making Waves in support of Halton Food for Thought and our Student Nutrition Programs.

If you are looking to start volunteering in your community, Student Nutrition Programs are a great place to do it! Our programs run early in the morning so allow you to still carry out your plans for the rest of the day. Reach out to discuss what opportunities we have available. If you aren’t able to volunteer and are interested in supporting our work, you can donate to help us continue to #FuelTheFuture.
