It’s National Volunteer week – this week along with every week we are grateful for the support we have of volunteers to contribute to our programs, events and our operations. In school there is a lot of preparation work and menu planning that goes into a Student Nutrition Program and without our volunteers we would not be able to provide access to healthy meals and snacks to over 92,000 students across Halton during the school year.
During this National Volunteer Week, we are highlighting how Every Moment Matters with our volunteers who are instrumental in delivering our programs in a universal and stigma-free environment to ensure every student is encouraged to participate.
Our volunteers come from the local school community, staff at schools and students; together they take on different roles to work together and deliver the best food programs possible at our 149 partner schools to support a healthy and nutritious start to a student’s day. Through their work, they are helping Halton Food for Thought work towards our vision of no student going hungry at school.
The commitment of our volunteers is incredible. We currently have about 1600 active volunteers in school supporting our programs who donate on average 7600 hours per month! Our volunteers are amazing individuals who all support for different reasons, however we all come together so students have access to healthy food to be able to concentrate on their day ahead and not their hungry tummies.
Thank you to everyone who helps support our programs, no matter the size of the contribution, it all adds up to show Every Moment Matters in support of Halton Food for Thought and our Student Nutrition Programs. #WeLoveOurVolunteers
